The Mission Base
The Base is located on the eastern outskirts of Honiara, about 12Km from the centre of town and about 4Km from Henderson International airfield. It is set on about 5 acres of land.
The "TRANSIT" house
can comfortably accommodate 20 people, but with a push, up to 24. It has 4 toilets,
2 inside showers, and 4 bunk beds to a room. A large central area makes up the
common room and dining area, with kitchen along one wall.
There are 5 other houses on the base, residential houses for Kevin & Machi Rietveld, Jack & Trudi Visser, local staff Andrew & Grace Billy, and another staff house currently used by a Bible Society staff member and his family. Recently a house was built for Jenny Van Wyk, a teacher from Brisbane, now teaching at Florence Young Christian School.
Water is from rain catchment for drinking, and bore water for washing, toilets etc. The houses are served with 220V electricity, generated on site through solar panels and supplemented by generator.

Grassed areas allow for recreation, and the beach is 20 minutes walk. A ‘local rest house’ is ideal for outside meetings or barbecues, and 5 roofed picnic tables make ideal prayer nooks or small group discussion points.
The Transit House is used for accommodating short term mission teams, as well as hosting occasional retreats and study programs. It is also available for other groups wishing to spend a short time in Honiara. Rates are very reasonable, and self catering is usually required. For accommodation bookings, rates etc, please contact us. SWIM has a "No Smoking, No-Alcohol & No-Betel Nut” policy for the Base.
