Kevin & Machi Rietveld

Kevin and Machi entered the ministry in 1982. After serving Christian Reformed Churches in Wellington, New Zealand; Kingston, Tasmania; and Blaxland, New South Wales, they were called to serve in Solomon Islands as Missionaries in 1998.

Kevin focuses mainly on teaching and training, and has run workshops on Preaching, classes in Theology, Christian Leadership and Counselling. His passion is that the cross of Christ is central in all teaching and preaching.

Machi’s area of interest is in children’s ministry and ministry to women, and she has developed some very good workshops for Sunday School Teachers, as well as dealing with women’s & family issues.

Kevin and Machi often work together sharing various aspects of their workshops, and they also work together in most of the aid projects and distribution of relief goods.

They also organize ministry projects for visiting “SWIM Teams” such as outreach in villages, village health programs etc. They have 3 children in their family.

 

Jack & Trudi Visser

Jack & Trudi come from Brisbane, and joined the Mission in January 2004.

Jack is a builder by trade, and also has a great love for mission. He came on to Solomon Islands first in 2001 to assist with the rebuilding of the Base after the civil unrest in the country. He and Trudi were appointed by the churches to take responsibility for the maintenance and development of the SWIM Base, and to coordinate SWIM Teams that come to do practical building type projects. They also assist with the distribution of relief goods.

Jack’s goals include making the Base self sufficient and in training local unemployed youth in carpentry skills.

Trudi has taken over responsibility for the small Hospital School run by SWIM, as well as managing the Transit House and other ministry and administrative duties.

Frank & Janet De Hoog

Frank & Janet with their 3 children, Nathan, Melissa & Alana came on board full time in 2001, after Frank and Janet had both been on a number of SWIM Teams to Solomon Islands before that. Frank served in the position now held by Jack, while Janet focused on home schooling the children. They completed their term at the end of 2003 and
